Black currants are very tart, small berries with a distinctive flavour.  They are generally not eaten fresh, but because of their high pectin content make excellent jams and jellies.

They are also delicious for juice, or in baking.

Season:  June 25 - August 15
Peak Season:  July 1 - August 1
