South Alder Farms has been awarded a Certificate of Good Agricultural Practices by an independent third party auditor, SGS Canada. The audit involved intensive scrutiny of all areas of food safety in the processes of growing, harvesting, storage, minor processing, packing, and shipping. Consumers want to know that our product is safe. Our ability to trace-back is second to none in the industry. When buying a package of South Alder Farms berries, our coding system enables us to pinpoint a berry's entire history - from where it came from to the time our customer received it. Integrated Pest Management is a process we have been using for years. It involves monitoring our fields using a professional monitoring service and using biological controls whenever possible. We use chemical controls only when necessary. By implementing this program, we have decreased our use of chemicals by more than 50% in the past 10 years.
